campus party 2009

The 13th edition of the Campus Party has just started and it’s the largest festival of technology, creativity, leisure and culture in the digital network world. From Monday to Sunday, more than 6,000 participants coming from all continents have gathered in the “Museo de las Ciencias Príncipe Felipe de Valencia” with their computers. After 12 years of history, it has become a prestigious event in the computer world, both for users and for businesses.

This edition has over 30 sponsors and partners, which is a luxury in these times of crisis, since the lack of sponsors usually prevents the celebration of such important events. Telefónica is the main promoter and it provides the entire infrastructure necessary for the cyber party. The operator has deployed 8.5 Gb of bandwidth; a breakneck speed that allows the download the Wikipedia’s content in all the languages in only 30 seconds.

The attendees will enjoy all kinds of activities and set aside their fatigue for a week, but for those who need a rest they have a camping area of 30,000 square metres; in addition, there are 15.000 metres of fibre optics, 300.000 watts of consumption and 200 hours of training courses. The Campus Party is divided into five distinct areas: Innovation, Creativity, Science, Digital Entertainment and Experience. Workshops, lectures, demos (program demos), competitions and other activities are held.

Campus Party 2009 has already begun and it started by looking to the past with the premiere of an exhibition of antique computer products and video games. It is organized by Vintagenarios in collaboration with the AUIC (Asociación de Usuarios de la Informática Clásica)

This event is famous worldwide: it has gained so much importance through the years that countries like Brazil or Colombia have copied the initiative and now they have their own campus party. The organization says that this expansion will continue throughout the coming years with new destinations.

This year the organization has released the Campus TV, which will show what is happening in the cyber party.

The northern part of the coast is called Costa del Azahar and it goes from the Capital to the delta of the river Ebro. Coming down from Catalonia, the first beach you’ll come across is the Platja de Corinto, near Sagunto. But it is only one of the many amazing beaches that run alongside the road to Valencia! Among the most famous ones, you’ll see: Puçol, la Platja de la Pobla de Fernais, Platja de Arboreia and the well-known Playa de Malva-Rosa. Southern from Valencia, you’ll find other interesting beaches ; firstly, the Platja de Pinedo, joins a long piece of land at the mouth of the Turia river, and if you go a little further, you’ll see the Platja del Saler in Cullera. For those of you who loathe crowded beaches, go to la Devesa, that beach is an oasis of nature and calm. It is in the middle of the Albufera park, a humid area that has become one of the Natural Parks of Spain.

Going even more south, mountains get closer to the sea, and between Denia and Benidorm, the landscape becomes drier and the beautiful sandy bays are surrounded by majestic rocks. From Denia, you can easily go to Ibiza or Formentera (about a one-hour trip). Benidorm is the first city of the Costa Blanca, one of the most touristy areas of Spain. It’s a wild coast covered by Castles and strongholds. Beaches there are just amazing. Alicante is in the middle of the Valencia Community and shelters immense beaches of golden sand among which the Platija de l’Albuferrata, Platja de Sant Joan and el Postiguet, famous for the impressive rock that surrounds the area.

But so much more awaits you! Don’t hesitate, come and rent an apartment in Valencia and get a taste of this earthly heaven.Valencia beaches await you!
