Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ,
Who are you? What have you sacrificed?
Jesus Christ Superstar,
Do you think you’re what they say you are?

Are you singing the chorus to the 20th century’s most famous rock opera? The authors are the dynamic duo Tim Rice (text) and Andrew Lloyd Webber (music), and as the title makes clear, the opera deals with the life of Jesus Christ, specifically, the last week. It is told according to the gospel of Saint John, and touches on his relationship with Judas Iscariot. The events represented are full of political references, and deal with mid twentieth century social problems.

Before its Broadway debut in 1971 Jesus Christ Superstar was first a studio recording. The singer from Deep Purple, Ian Gillan, played the role of Jesus Christ. Many adaptations of the musical were made to take it to the world stage, from Europe to Latin America. However, the musical provoked a lot of controversy from religious groups, according to Christians, Christ was too “human,” and the resurrection was not mentioned. Jewish groups were upset because to them it seemed to accept and promote the anti-Semitic theories that Jews were responsible for the death of Christ.

The work of Rice and Webber even arrived to the big screen, when in 1973, Jesus Christ Superstar the movie premiered to favourable reviews. 2000 another version was made with Glenn Carter as Jesus and Jerome Pradon as Judas. Renee Castel was Mary of Magdalene.

The first Spanish version of the musical was produced in 1975 in the Theatre Alcalá Palace in Madrid. There have been other productions (1984, 2006, and 2007). The most recent produced by Obvio Producciones Musicales, premieres in Valencia in the José Iturbi Hall in the Palau de la Música the 9th and 10th of may 2010. Jiménez, member of heavy metal group Stravaganzza will play Jesus Christ.

Love, lesbian…the name says a lot but the music and the lyrics will definitely inspire you more than the title. A pop rock indie band, Love of Lesbian is composed of Catalan guys: Santi Balmes, Julián Saldarriaga, Jordi Roig, Joan Ramon Planell, Oriol Bonet and Daniel Ferrer, who began singing for a hobby back in 1996 and transformed their hobby into a successful job when their work began to be appreciated by young people all over Spain.

No more English
They recorded their first album “Microscopic Movies” in 1999 and after 3 albums in English they decided to make a change and sing in Spanish. As Santi Balmes says in one of his interviews, << singing in Spanish was almost a necessity as people had to understand us and our message.>> And maybe not only to understand but to listen to the music and not to think they were hiding behind lots of influences that risked washing out the group’s own identity. He recommends the same for new groups, to sing in their own language and he thinks that for Love of Lesbian, having sung in English was an error.

Singing in Spanish brings fame
With the recording of their first album in Spanish they attracted critical attention and are now considered one of the best alternative groups in Spain. “Maniobras de Escapismo” and “Cuentos Chinos Para Niños del Japón” both represent the approval of Love of Lesbian on the Spanish market. With hats, flares or colourful sunglasses LOL’s fans are ready to teach you how to party. Group members are in on the fun as well, dressing with some weird glittering space suits to show you how to rock.
Now you know: if you are a little freaky and you enjoy good music, you’ll certainly have a great time going to one of their concerts.

Identify with LOL’s lyrics
If you are one of those who had conflicts with his family, problems with drugs or wasted time in toxic relationships, then it’s you they’re talking about in the lyrics of their latest album,
“1999 (o cómo generar incendios de nieve con una lupa enfocando en la luna)” released in March 2009. 70% autobiographic and 30% fantasy, LOL’s last album is ready to conquer you. Just give them an opportunity, rent Apartments in Valencia on 24th of April 2010, go to their concert and become a fan.

The Western world is divided into two kinds of people: Those who Facebook and those who don’t. Facebook is now a verb, by the way, the same way that Google.

As in, “I Googled you”

For those who Facebook, compulsive behaviour is just a click away. Is online social networking addictive? Well, yes, and there are a few signs that can help you decide if you are among the junkies.

Before we begin, a quick disclaimer: This isn’t intended to single out Facebook as the bad guy. It’s just the most obvious choice. There are so many users of Facebook that if it were a country, it would be bigger than the United States. The only two countries that would have more citizens than the Republic of Facebook are China and India. So there you go.

Signs You are Addicted to Facebook:
1) It interferes with your normal day
You probably already know the way you have the cursor hovering over the X in the corner just in case your boss passes by. And the way you have been careful to NOT add him or her to your friends list!

2) You update your status more than three times a day – from your phone
If you are taking time away from your coffee with friends, or trying to update your status while sitting in the dentist’s chair, you may need to ask yourself if it is really necessary to let everyone know what you are doing every moment of the day. Let’s face it, we don’t even care what WE had for lunch, let alone what you ate.

3) If you see a car accident, you head to Facebook before you call the emergency services
This one is self-explanatory. Really, what are you thinking?

4) You have more than five hundred Facebook friends
No-one can sustain that many friendships. Think about how many people you actually stay in touch with. It’s probably less than fifty. Facebook is a social networking tool – a way to stay in touch with people you actually know and like.

5) You Facebook-stalk old boyfriends or girlfriends
This one is just creepy. They’re not in your life anymore, so what is the point trying to divine meaning from their status updates, or wondering who that unfamiliar man/woman is that your ex has their arm around. You’re not going to find anything meaningful about them through Facebook, and if you do, you probably won’t like it!

6) You spend more than an hour a day playing Facebook games
A little light entertainment is fine, but if Farmville or Mafia Wars is taking time away from – you know – REAL LIFE, then it’s got to stop. You’re also spamming the crap out of your friend’s News Feeds, so please let it go.

7) You jump on every notification
If you are on Facebook so much that your notifications never add up to more than two or three, it’s too much.

Facebook (and other social networks) can be a great way to stay in touch with far-away loved ones or business associates. Just try to remember that it’s entertainment, not oxygen. When was the last time you stayed away from the internet for a whole day? How about a whole weekend?

The world won’t fall apart if you log off for 24 hours. Sorry.

For a real break from the online space, rent an Apartment in Valencia and leave the laptop at home to get a little taste of the amazing 3D space that we like to call the real world.
