The Centro del Carme in Valencia, Spain, will present the exhibition “Joanot Martorell and the autumn of chivalry” (Joanot Martorell and the autumn of the cavalry), a show dedicated to the writer and knight who wrote “Tirant lo Blanch” and will present the stage he spent his life through.

The presentation will mark the sixth centenary of the birth of Valencian knight and the 550 years since he began writing his most important work. In Joanot Martorell and the Autumn of the Cavalry there will be more than a hundred works of art from 23 different institutions such as the Toledo Museum of Army, the Imperial Armory Art and History Museum of Vienna and the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid.
The most important works that will be exhibited will be a full armor (one of the few in the world) that was created in the same armory where Martorell ordered the one he used to fight against his cousin, the sword of the king of Hungary and the wallpaper showing one of the passages of the Trojan War.
Why is this knight so important? For those who do not know, Martorell is considered the author of the first great modern novel in Europe and the capacity of observation and memory through each one of its pages.
